Job Description

Business Operations Internship

Monument Advocacy is looking for a Business Operations Intern for Fall 2025. As any fast-growing business understands, the Operations Team is the glue that holds the pieces together, so why not join us to learn how we make it all work? You’ll have a front row seat learning from our executive leadership as well as other echelons of staff; you’ll hone your skills on how to throw (and attend) fun events; what it takes to keep a growing firm and its staff on task and focused; and learning how to adapt and be creative when it comes to solving the multitude of internal issues that will inevitably arise. In a nutshell, you’ll have the opportunity to see the inner workings of how a top-tier bicoastal government relations and public affairs firm operates.

A little bit about us: Monument Advocacy works with a wide range of clients, such as Fortune 100 corporations, trade associations, and startup companies to help them engage effectively in today’s public policy environment. Monument advises clients on a variety of issue areas including homeland security, immigration and travel, technology and telecommunications, international trade, tax, energy, and healthcare.

Current undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to apply, as well as recent graduates.

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Assist with administrative tasks and office management (it can’t be all fun and games, right?):

  • Track inventory of pantry, supply closet, and IT equipment (this is where your spreadsheet skills should come in handy)
  • Organization of office supplies and storage (we love the KonMari Method™)
  • Support maintenance, mailing, shipping and receiving of equipment
  • Complete off-site assignments for the firm (yay, field trips!)
  • Provide general support for office visitors

Coordinate staff trainings, events, client meetings (getting closer...):

  • Prepping for internal firm-wide monthly meetings (a great excuse for everyone to eat in front of one another)
  • Assisting with logistics for all firm events/meetings (we’re fond of Monument-branded nametags)
  • Assisting with event planning/management (party time!)
  • Ordering from, and interacting with event vendors (don’t worry, we have some really awesome ones)
  • Assisting with booking travel (red eyes for all!)

Assist the Operations Team with firm optimization projects (definitely getting closer to the fun meter):

  • Conducting research for projects
  • Preparing reports and/or memos for firm leadership
  • Assisting with expenses (for those extra motivated in learning the ropes)
  • Support in-person and virtual firm after hours events (fun!):
  • Firm lunches/happy hours/receptions/holiday events (yum!)
  • Political fundraisers (we’re bipartisan, so we play nice with everyone)

Skills:

  • Sense of humor (we tried our best to show ours in this posting)
  • Strong spreadsheet enthusiast (we live by them here)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (we do have a Teams channel dedicated solely to reality shows)
  • Love details (it is the way of life at Ops here)
  • Must be able to move boxes weighing up to 25lbs. (filled with mystery items)

Pay: $17.95 per hour. Full-time positions are available for a maximum of 4 consecutive months. Monument is an equal opportunity employer. For more information on Monument, our team members, and our clients, please visit
