Job Description

The Director of Creative Services provides strategic direction and leadership to a multidisciplinary team responsible for developing and executing graphic design projects and campaigns that advance the mission of Visit Orlando. These projects span print, web, social media, digital communication, video, animation, and live events, targeting both internal and external audiences.

This role is visionary and collaborative, integrating all visual and creative components into Visit Orlando’s communications, marketing, membership, and sales efforts. The Director ensures creative excellence, brand consistency, and innovation across all touchpoints.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Utilize industry knowledge, trends, insights, and research to lead the team to develop concepts that fulfill all creative needs aligned with our organization’s strategy and business requirements.
  • Responsible for creative philosophy and the standard of output across the department. Oversees and facilitates design and production quality control across all projects and campaigns working within brand standards.
  • Serves as a member of the Pathfinders Leadership Team, attending meetings and supporting Visit Orlando’s mission, vision and Core Values. Participates on task forces and committees as needed. Ensures the team is engaged, supported, encourages training opportunities and is collaborative across the organization.
  • Leads creative collaboration sessions, helping develop ideas for marketing, sales and promotional campaigns. Represents the department in presentations and strategy discussions, partnering with key stakeholders and external resources to support the needs of the organization.
  • Determines processes and procedures for the department and conducts appropriate meetings to ensure that all projects and campaigns are conducted on schedule and within budget. Ensures that scheduling is maintained internally and externally.
  • Recommends and manages budget for assigned area to ensure that operations are conducted within budget guidelines.
  • Supervises and schedules activities of the department, directing projects and campaigns from start to finish, keeping to deadlines, and signing off before they are presented. Ensures proactive communication in project status, changes and developments.
  • Liaises with internal clients to develop strong working relations with the department and to keep them informed and to highlight any issues, concerns and opportunities.
  • Develops positive working relationships with external agencies to bring campaigns to completion.
  • Oversees Visit Orlando’s digital asset management system - VOLT.
  • Ensures protection of the Orlando UR and Visit Orlando brands. Serves as Brand ambassador.
  • Proactively keeps CMO informed of all matters related to the programs maintained by the Creative Services department.
  • Performs other accountabilities and projects as assigned.

Accountabilities for Supervision:

  • Participates in decisions related to the selection, promotion, transfer, salary and discipline of assigned personnel.
  • Conducts or oversees training for new employees to ensure that established procedures are clearly understood and followed.
  • Answers employee questions, resolves work-related challenges and interprets Visit Orlando policies to staff to improve quality and quantity of work performed within accountable areas.
  • Monitors the work performance of assigned personnel on a continual basis, conducts effective performance appraisals and takes corrective action when necessary.
  • Creates a working climate in which assigned personnel are motivated to develop their skills and abilities and demonstrates by personal example the desired standards of conduct and work performance.
  • Administers company policies in a fair and equitable manner regarding discipline, tardiness, absenteeism or insubordination, and fully documents all incidents and actions taken.

Qualification Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in creative services, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership or director-level role overseeing cross-channel campaigns and managing creative teams. Strong communication and interpersonal interaction skills, along with the ability to manage, coach and mentor a creative services team and oversee a high quantity of projects in a fast-paced environment without direct supervision. A self-reliant, problem-solving, results-oriented individual who can positively and productively impact both strategic and creative operations.

Creative management experience in the areas of promotion, production and/or creative services for a medium to large market. Proven track record for development of successful marketing concepts, branding efforts, account service, digital media, creative and production procedures. Proficiency in budget planning and management.

Computer Skills:

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and good understanding of MAC applications and computers, design packages and asset management tools

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule format.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

Work Environment:

The environment for this job is typical for an office and does not result in exposure to conditions outside of the normal office environment.
