Fire Alarm & Life Safety Systems (LSS) Construction Manager

Location: Taylor, TX

Employment Type: Full-Time (On-Site)

Salary: $80,000-$110,000 DOE

Role Overview

The Fire Alarm & Life Safety Systems Construction Manager oversees all phases of fire protection and life safety system installation on a high-profile industrial construction project. This role ensures that all systems—ranging from detection and suppression to emergency response integration—are designed, installed, and commissioned in compliance with project specifications, local codes, and client standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the on-site installation and integration of fire alarm and life safety systems, coordinating across electrical, mechanical, and general trades.
  • Manage subcontractor performance, schedules, and compliance with technical drawings, codes, and project milestones.
  • Oversee inspection, testing, and commissioning activities to ensure full system functionality and certification readiness.
  • Review design and as-built drawings for accuracy, constructability, and adherence to NFPA and local code requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering and QA/QC teams to resolve technical issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and toolbox talks to reinforce site-wide compliance with fire protection and safety protocols.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for client representatives, AHJs, and third-party inspectors regarding LSS systems.
  • Maintain detailed project documentation, including daily reports, test records, and progress logs.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years of construction management experience, including 3+ years specializing in Fire Alarm and Life Safety Systems.
  • Proven experience on industrial or high-technology construction projects (semiconductor preferred).
  • Familiarity with NFPA codes, local building/fire regulations, and commissioning procedures.
  • NICET Level II or higher in Fire Alarm Systems strongly preferred.
  • OSHA 30 certification required.
  • Strong proficiency with reading electrical and systems drawings, interpreting specifications, and managing subcontractor scope.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
