HTI Contractors Division of the  H&K Group, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced and motivated General Laborer to become a part of our team. Usually performing their duties in a utility capacity, the Laborer position entails working on construction projects, often transferring from one task to another whenever the situation requires. Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  

Performs all work adhering to OSHA and H&K Safety policiesAcquires tools needed for daily operationsMeasures distances from grade stakes, drives stakes, and stretches tight lineBolts, nails, aligns, and blocks up under formsSignals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specificationsLevels earth to fine grade specificationsMixes concreteSmoothes and finishes freshly poured cement or concretePositions, joins, aligns, and seals pipe sectionsErects scaffolding, shoring, and braces Paving Duties:

• Assists with pre-run markings
• Uses a paving lute to fine grade before roller man compacts
• Operates vibratory plate as needed
• Shovels asphalt as required
• Direct traffic around work area as required

• Pipe Duties:
  • Gets tools needed for daily operations
  • Gets job set up for daily function such as setting up a pipe laser
  • Operates a Wacker and jumping jack to perform backfilling duties
  • Uses cut saws to make pipe proper length
  • Preps pipe for connection before pipe gets lowered
  • Shoots grades and checks grades using laser or conventional methods
  • Performs connection of pipe work
  • Responsible for checking for proper pipe slope
  • Preps structures for installation
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills, Education, and Experience

One month of related experience and/or trainingEquivalent experience and education may be consideredStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructionsProblem solvingAbility to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as neededAbility to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job) 

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience

Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarriesOSHA or other relevant safety certifications

  • Stand, walk, and climb
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, balance, crouch, or crawl

Work Environment

• Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions
• Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts
• Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles
• Noise level is usually moderate
