About the Position

  • Must be able to work evening shift hours (3:00pm - 12:30am).
  • Full time position - Minimum 40 hours a week (Overtime eligible).
  • Location: Manufacturing company located in the South to Southeast side of Houston.

  • Base Pay: $19.50 - 23.50/hr.

Position Summary

The Shipping Lead supports the daily outbound operations of the shipping department to ensure customer orders are prepared, packaged, and shipped accurately and on schedule. This position acts as the point of contact between the shipping team and warehouse operations, assisting with prioritizing workloads and maintaining a smooth, efficient flow of outgoing shipments. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in high-volume manufacturing or distribution environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily shipping activities to ensure orders are completed accurately, packaged correctly, and shipped on time.
  • Serve as a liaison between warehouse staff, transportation, and customer service to align shipping priorities and resolve issues.
  • Verify shipping documentation such as packing lists, bills of lading, and carrier labels for accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist in preparing and staging orders for outbound shipment.
  • Communicate order status updates and exceptions to relevant departments.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on accuracy, efficiency, and cost control within shipping operations.
  • Monitor shipping supplies and notify the Shipping Supervisor when restocking or maintenance is needed.
  • Train and guide team members on standard shipping procedures, quality standards, and safety practices under the direction of the Shipping Supervisor.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety within the shipping area.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse operations within a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Experience in a lead or key point-of-contact role (without direct supervisory responsibilities) is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of shipping documentation, carrier processes, and freight coordination.
  • Experience using ERP or warehouse management systems (SAP or similar preferred).
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Forklift experience required.
